Dennis J. Herlihy of Medford died on Tuesday, January 31, at the Woburn Nursing Center. Born and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Dennis and Elizabeth (Cowig) Herlihy. Dennis proudly served in the Navy during World War II, after which he was employed as a machinist. He was a Medford resident for 53 years.
Dennis was the beloved husband of the late June E. (Wood) Herlihy, and the devoted father of Suzanne Herlihy-Sarno and her husband Joseph Sarno, Patricia Herlihy and her husband Paul Riccioli, all of Medford, and the late Ernest Herlihy. He was the loving grandfather of Jason Sarno and his wife Allison of Boston, and Paige Riccioli of Medford. Dennis was the brother of the late Mary Young, Nancy Cook, Kathleen Pelletier, and John Herlihy, and is also survived by Dawn Marie and Jennifer Herlihy, the late Melissa Herlihy, and many other friends and relatives.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, February 4 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours Friday, February 3, from 4 through 8 PM.
