Anna Neilson, 97, passed into peace on Monday January 30, 2017.
Born in Hanson in 1919,Anna was the matriarch of a huge clan of family and friends. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with those she loved. She would always reach out a helping hand to those who needed it and was good to all she met. There was nothing she wouldn't do for someone but she never thought is was enough. In 1941, she married the love of her life Frederick Neilson, and they spent 53 years sharing laughter and love. He predeceased her in 1994. She loved dancing and talking and laughing and all kinds of music. She was a proud member of the Portuguese Continental Union for many years. Though she never traveled far from home, her reach was a vast as her personality. She will be missed by all whose life she touched. She was predeceased by her husband Fred, her daughter Joyce N Ezell, both her parents,her 8 brothers and sisters and many loved ones and friends.She is survived by her son Frederick Neilson Jr. of Halifax, her in laws William F Ezell of Lakeville and Tanya Neilson of Dorchester, her grandchildren Cheryl Ezell of Middleboro, Sharyn McWilliams and her husband Ian of Brockton, William J Ezell of Fairhaven, Derek Neilson and Alyssa Napoleon of Somerville, Farah Neilson of Brockton, Katie Neilson of Brockton, Meghan Freberg and Christopher Freberg of Rockland. She also leaves 6 great grandchildren Christina, Alyssa, Will, Jason, Olivia, Derek. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and more friends who were like family than can be named. We ask that to honor her legacy, please treat someone with kindness today and everyday.
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, February 3, at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St, Pembroke from 4:00 to 8:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 4, at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Halifax at 9:00AM. Internment will follow at St. James Cemetery in Whitman.
