Obituary

Maxine Hayman Pomahatch, 95, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Pomahatch at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Born January 17, 1922 in Tifton, Mrs. Pomahatch was the daughter of the late Leonard Hayman and Boza Roberts Hayman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alois “Al” James Pomahatch; two sons, Jimmy Pomahatch, Jr. and Buddy Pomahatch; two daughters, Linda Ferrell and Janet Pope; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Pomahatch McDaniel; two brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Tift Avenue Church of God. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Pomahatch is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Laraine and Herman Autry of Tifton; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Pomahatch of Tifton; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren, including a special great-grandchild, Amanda Leigh Jacobo-Rubio and husband, Ruben.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Tift Avenue Church of God, 2220 Tift Avenue North, Tifton, GA 31794.
