June E. (Cathcart) Nason, age 88, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred R. “Jim” Nason, to whom she was wed for over sixty years at the time of his death on March 20, 2009.
Born in Pembroke, MA on April 30, 1928, she was a daughter of the late William W. and Maude (Sommerskill) Cathcart.
June grew up in Norton and was a graduate of Norton High School. After starting her family, she returned to school and received a certificate in nursing. She worked for many years as an LPN at the former Goddard Hospital in Stoughton before retiring.
Mrs. Nason was a member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton, the Order of Eastern Star and the Norton Historical Society. She enjoyed painting, walking the beach in Dennis and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son Douglas J. Nason and his wife Elena of Norton. She was the grandmother of Kristy Perry and her husband Mark of Norton, Kelly Jackson and her husband Thomas of Norton and the late Stephanie Nason. She was the great grandmother of Aidan, Stefana, Krista, William and Elena Perry, and Thomas and James Jackson. She was the sister of the late Ruth Goold and Richard W. “Dick” Cathcart, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Visiting hours have been omitted and those wishing may remember June with a donation in her memory made to the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home, 55 Newland St., Norton, MA 02766.
