Catherine A. (DeLorenzo) Thomas, 88, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Worcester and Medway passed away peacefully on January 28, 2017 in the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the beloved wife of the late David F. Thomas who passed away in 2014 and predeceased by her brother Domenic DeLorenzo.
Born on January 24, 1929 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Michelina (Mottolese) DeLorenzo. Mrs. Thomas was a graduate of Medway High School class of 1946 and then went on to attend Burdette College in Boston.
Catherine always enjoyed keeping busy and held many positions. She volunteered for the St. Joseph’s Band in Medway for many years; and most notably, she managed the local Five and Dime and worked as the head cashier at Mars Bargain Land. She went on to retire with the love of her life, David F. Thomas, and travel the eastern seaboard dealing rare antique dolls and toys. In her spare time she was a very active member of a camping group, but most of all enjoyed family reunions, visiting with her children and camping with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children, David E. Thomas and his wife Linda Gail of Richmond, Virginia, Linda J. Arnold of Shrewsbury, Susan M. Bouchard and her husband Robert of Medway and James M. Thomas and his wife Lynn of Bethel, Vermont; her two brothers, Theobaldo DeLorenzo of FL and Francesco DeLorenzo of NC.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her niece Catherine Marenghi and her nephews, Jerry Marenghi and Mark DeLorenzo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway on Friday, February 3rd at 10:00A.M. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00P.M.
