Obituary

Dorothy R. Galipeau, 88, passed away peacefully in the company of her family on January 29, 2017.
Born on August 2, 1928 in Fall River she was the daughter of the late Henry and Irene (Paradis) Bertrand. Dorothy was the loving wife of the late P. Paul Galipeau and together they shared a home in North Smithfield for over 40 years, where they were known for their sincere hospitality.
Dorothy is survived by one son Steven Galipeau of Redmond, Washington and two daughters Linda Doyle of Harrisville and Nancy Benoit of Manchester, Vermont, four grandchildren, two brothers Donald Bertrand of Tustin, California and Rene Bertrand of Narragansett and one sister Lorraine Vadeboncoeur of Woonsocket.
Dorothy studied fashion design at the Rhode Island School of Design in the 1950s. She loved to paint watercolors and was a prolific reader. A lifelong fan of the Red Sox and Patriots, she had a wonderful sense of humor and happy spirit; always greeting her guests with a warm smile and a kiss. Dorothy enjoyed bringing friends and family together and celebrating holidays with food, music, games and laughter.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. James Parish 33 Division St. Manville, RI. 02838.
