Sylvia (Amaral) Travers, age 94, of Somerset, passed away on Monday January 30, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Hortencia (Jorge) Pereira and wife of the late Arthur Travers. She was a stock room worker at the former Cora’s Jewelry Shop until her retirement in 1948 and a member of the Holy Rosary Society. After retirement she lived to care for her family and friends and was the glue that held everyone together.
She is survived by her children; Andrew W. (wife Lucia), John, and Donna Travers (husband Herb Dias), Mary Ann Kramer (husband Bruce), and Paula Bibeau (husband Richard), 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Arthur “Jack” Travers Jr., 8 brothers, 4 sisters, and great-grandson Dominic Mercado.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Thursday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. John of God Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours on Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to a charity of your choice.
