J. C. Harris, Sr., 80, of Sycamore passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born on November 28, 1936 to the late John Nathan and Effie Lee Massey Harris, he was a member of the House of Prayer in Ashburn. Mr. Harris retired from the City of Ashburn Police Department and was serving as a City Councilman in Sycamore. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a Mason with the Sycamore Lodge #210 and was a member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association.
Mr. Harris is survived by his sons, Clay (Tammy) Harris of Sycamore and Carl (Sheila) Harris of Sycamore; daughter, Regina (Charles) Fortson of Sycamore; Nineteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 PM until the hour of services at the funeral home Wednesday.
