Obituary

CHICOPEE – Jeannette D. “Jan” (Trudell) Lavigne, 93, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 28, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on August 22, 1923, the third eldest child of eleven children to the late Jean Baptiste Trudell and Rose Clarinda (Provost) Trudell. She was raised and schooled in Holyoke and moved to Chicopee in 1947. Most of all, she was a quiet woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Conrad J. Lavigne Jr. who was Called Home on November 15, 1976. They were married on March 6, 1943 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 33 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving children, Joyce M. Boutilier and her husband, Henry “Skip” Boutilier, of Chicopee, Kenneth R. Lavigne and his wife, Laurette, of Belchertown and Gary J. Lavigne and his wife, Lynn, of Chicopee; her seven cherished grandchildren, Tammy Spillman and her husband, John, Marc Lavigne and his wife, Janice, Danielle Gould and her husband, Kevin, Rebecca Lavigne, Eric Lavigne and his wife, Cobie, Jeremy Lavigne and his fiancée, Lynn Sullivan, and Jessica Jeannenot and her husband, Paul; her ten cherished great-grandchildren, Sean, Kyra and Aiden Lavigne, Travis and Tyler Lavigne, Alexa and Clara Gould, Adreanna and Ethan Jeannenot and Connor Spillman; her three dear sisters-in-law and her brother-in-law, Rita Trudell and Jean Trudell, both of Holyoke and Anita Gaudette and her husband, Richard, of Needham; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Lavigne and Trudell families. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, February 2, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, (please specify Springfield), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
