Obituary

David Leo Cusson, age 65, of Fairhaven, MA passed away January 28th surrounded by his loving family, after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Leo and Estelle (Bertrand) Cusson of Acushnet. He is survived by his wife Cathy (Briggs) Cusson of Fairhaven. Three daughters, Michelle Cusson of Los Angeles, CA, Nicole (Cusson) Brown and her husband Jeremy of Gresham, OR, and Kimberly (Pielech) Cambra and her fiancé Matthew Boucher of Wareham, MA. Three grandchildren, Lily, Olivia and Ryder Cambra. He is also survived by a sister Joanne (Cusson) Aker and her husband Don of Portsmouth, RI, three brothers, Gerard Cusson and his wife Debby of Melbourne, FL, Stephen Cusson and his wife Dee of Naples, FL, and Leo Cusson of Acushnet, MA, a brother-in-law Benjamin Briggs, III and his wife Pat of Acushnet, MA, several nieces and nephews as well as several close friends the he considered family.

David was very proud to be a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Panama and took part in the conflict in Grenada. He worked many years as a Correctional Officer at MCI Norfolk and in later years retired from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

David loved building wooden ship models, some taking several years to complete. He also loved to travel, play cards, care for his home and yard and military history. David was happiest when playing Devil’s Advocate during many spirited discussions with his friends and family. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.

His family wishes to thank the Southcoast VNA Hospice and, especially his nurse Genevieve for her kindness, compassion and care during his illness.

Per his wishes there will be no services at this time. A celebration of his life will be held in the Spring.
