Obituary

CHICOPEE – Yvette G. (Perreault) Samson, 92, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, January 27, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on October 16, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Oswald and Laura (Plante) Perreault. She was raised in Holyoke and later lived in Willimansett and Fairview before moving to Aldenville in 1957. She was last employed as a sewing machine operator at A.T. Surgical in Holyoke and had previously worked at A.G. Spalding in Chicopee and Totsy Manufacturing in Holyoke. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she was a former member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. She served her parish as a Eucharistic Minister and a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Instructor. For her many years of teaching, she was a recipient of the Pope Pius X Award from the Diocese of Springfield. She also was a member of the Apostolate of the Suffering and the Prayer Group at Sainte Rose de Lima Church and Saint Patrick Church. Above all, Yvette loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Paul E. Samson. They were married at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee on May 30, 1951 and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. She also leaves her six loving children, Paul R. Samson and his wife, Diane, Charles E. Samson, Donald R. Samson, and Elise M. Murphy, all of Chicopee, Louise A. Nolan and her husband, James, of Richmond, NH and Raymond J. Samson of Chicopee; her eight cherished grandchildren, Danielle Saffioti and her husband, Nicholas, Andrea Luttrell and her husband, Jeffrey, Megan Samson, Alex Samson, Marc Touchette and his wife, Rebecca, Daniel Touchette, Grace Nolan and Anton Samson; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Jacob and Henry Luttrell and Robert Touchette; her dear brother, Robert J. Perreault of Athens, GA; her dear sister, Rita Gregory and her husband, Edward, of Agawam; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Samson and Perreault families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving step-father, Herman LaFlamme; her loving daughter-in-law, Anastacia Handley Samson who was Called Home on May 18, 2010; and her cherished grandson, Robert G. Touchette who was Called Home on April 10, 2004. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, February 1, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
