HUDSON
Stephanie L. (Lord) Gill, 69, reached the end of her decades-long
struggle against the inherited disease called cystic fibrosis on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus. She was born in Claremont, NH, the daughter of the late Stephen E. and Mary (Poppleton) Lord, and has lived in Hudson since 1974.
She leaves her loving husband of 43 years, John J. Gill; her brother, William Lord of El Paso, TX; two sisters-in-law, Linda Lord of Littleton and Carolee Lord of Amesbury; her aunt, Joan Piccolo of Hanover, NH; two nephews, Charles Lord and his wife Lynette, and Patrick Lord and his wife, Marie; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Daniel and Michael Lord, her two sisters, Susan and Patricia Lord and her uncle, Vincent Piccolo.
She was the president of the Assabet Valley Camera Club. Stephanie worked for Digital Equipment Corp in Maynard for 23 years. She was an office manager for Literacy Unlimited at Framingham Library. She was a volunteer for the Hudson Food Pantry. Stephanie loved to cook, and had a love for nature which she showed through her photography. She loved to listen to Jimmy Buffett and enjoyed her sunsets in Aruba.
Although burdened from birth with dangerous episodes of illness, she lived a full and productive life, decades longer than most victims of this terrible genetic disorder. Her achievements were many, her leadership skills were obvious, and she tenaciously persisted against an unrelenting enemy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson. A private committal service will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hudson Food Pantry, 28 Houghton St., Hudson, MA 01749.
