Carol A. (Masefield) George, age 79, of Raynham, formerly of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 26, 2017 at All American Assisted Living in Raynham. She was born in Brockton, a daughter of the late George and Helen (Lavigne) Masefield, and had lived in the city most of her life. A 1955 graduate of Brockton High School, Carol also attended Chandler School for Women.
Carol had worked for many years at the Brockton District Court and retired as a clerk in the Probate Department.
In her free time, Carol enjoyed bowling, playing golf and reading. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her three children Michele Clemons and her husband Joel of Hanson; Michael W. George and his wife Denise of Mansfield; and Gary T. George of Brockton. She was the grandmother of Rebecca, Jared, Elijah and Caleb Clemons; and Calleigh and Hannah George. She was the sister of Robert G. Masefield and his wife Christine of W. Bridgewater, and John E. Masefield and his wife Virginia of E. Bridgewater. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Monday, 4-7pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
