Warren H. Hoey, 78, of Natick, MA, died on January 24, 2017 at the Framingham Union Hospital Warren was surrounded by his family in his final days, who marveled at his incredible will to live. He was the beloved husband for 57 years of Maureen (Austin) Hoey of Natick.
Born in Waltham on August 24, 1938 he was the son of the late Richard and Janet (Buck) Hoey. He graduated from Newton High School and Newton Technical High School and subsequently served in the United States Navy as a photographer commissioned on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He received a letter of commendation for his work in capturing the cause of an aircraft incident that subsequently allowed the Navy to adopt enhanced safety procedures.
Upon completion of his service to the Navy, Mr. Hoey earned a certificate degree in Architectural Drafting from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He began a long successful career in the construction field at the Brookside Company in Stow Ma, where Mr. Hoey served as President for many years. Outside of work, Warren enjoyed many quiet moments with his family at their summer residence in Harwich MA. In his later years, Warren greatly enjoyed and appreciated the academic and athletic accomplishments of his grandchildren. He loved following sports, and was a long time season ticket holder and life-long fan of the New England Patriots.
He is survived by his two sons, Richard and his wife Theresa Hoey of Concord, Brian and his wife Michelle Hoey of Clinton and his four daughters, Karen Mercadante and her husband Richard of Hudson, Janet Sullivan of Franklin, Lorraine Cottone and her husband Vincent of Medway and Noreen Davis and her husband Keith of Millis. Mr. Hoey is also survived by his 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren who loved him dearly; Ryan, Melissa and Austin Hoey, Jason and Emma Jordan, Douglas and Lilah Mercadante, Kiersten and Gabriel Pocz, Alex and Abygail Hoey, Madison, Colton and Callahan Cottone, and Kyle, Taylor and Brendan Davis; his sisters Paula Landry and her husband Jude of Sun City Florida, Donna Del Cid and her husband Louie of Northborough, Carol Bishop and her husband Mark of Standish Maine and Diane Porter and her husband Deane of Saco Maine . He was also the brother of the late Linda Donnelly and Russell Hoey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral on Tuesday January 31 at 9:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street at Natick Common, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church at 10:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Visiting hours at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home are on Monday January 30 from 4 to 7 PM.
