Gerald Hardin, 95, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held, 11 AM, Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Arbor Baptist Church, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Friday evening, from 6PM until 8PM, at Arbor Baptist Church, in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Hardin was born November 7, 1921, in Dodge County, Georgia, to the late Albert & Goldie Grimsley Hardin. He lived in the community all of his life and served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Mr. Hardin was owner and operator of Hardin’s Trim Shop and several laundry mats. He was director of the Ben Hill Irwin Baptist Association and a member of Arbor Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and a Training Union teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gladys Hardin of Fitzgerald; children: Jerry & Angela Hardin of Fitzgerald, David & Charla Hardin of Fitzgerald and Cathy & Wayne Penn of Anniston, Alabama; seven grandchildren: Brittney Hardin, Jeremy & Diane Hardin, Garrett Hardin, Wayne Penn, Jr. & Mindy, Matthew Penn, Mark & Marie Penn and Wendy & Caleb Griffin; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a sister, Ruth Moran of Clearwater, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Hardin Thompson; also several nieces and nephews.
