John C Banister, 61, of Derry, NH, passed away January 25, 2017, in the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH. He was a son of the late Rolfe and Martine (Merriam) Banister. A graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1973, John went on to attend UNH and the London School of Economics and remained a lifelong learner. John had a long career in construction, most recently with AMCO LLC of Hooksett, NH.
John's career in construction allowed him to pursue his passion for a simple lifestyle filled with travel and outdoor activity. John toured Europe and the Greek Islands after college, then went on to live for months at a time in Bar Harbor, ME, The Yucatan Peninsula, The Florida Keys, and Baja. John lived in Hood River, OR from 1992 -2001 pursuing his passion for windsurfing.
He is survived by three sisters, Ellen Nadeau, Joanne Powers, and Carolyn Seston; brother, Charles Banister; five nieces and nephews; ten grandnieces and grandnephews and friend, Susan Tobin.
Following cremation, a calling hour will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 2pm to 3pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.
