Aubrey Thomas Wood
The life journey of Aubrey Thomas Wood began with the love of his parents, Cyndi Wood (Powers) and Thomas Wood. He was born on August 10, 1989 and received a diagnosis of autism in 1992. He lost the verbal skills he had been acquiring, and from that time, was challenged to find new ways to communicate with those around him.
In that endeavor, he was blessed and assisted with a happy disposition and an infectiously warm and loving personality, He ultimately touched the lives of many who knew him during his 27-year lifetime here in the City of Ventura.
Aubrey attended special needs programs in the Ventura Unified School District, including De Anza Middle School and Ventura High School, and at the Dorothy Boswell School, before participating, until his death, in the program offered by Cole Vocational Services in Oxnard.
Aubrey had received a seizure disorder diagnosis at the age of 12, and it was ultimately a strong seizure that ended Aubrey’s brief life journey on January 20, 2017. Though his mother predeceased him in 2001, he is survived by his father and a number of other relatives, as well as his
most recent caregiver, Tammy Cox.
And to Aubrey – As your Dad, and on behalf of all of us who were fortunate to know you, I urge and counsel you, my son, not to tarry on your journey to the Almighty, to take my thanks to the Lord for the loan of such a fine soul as yours for even such a brief time, to reacquire your voice and to seek out your Mom who loved you so much, and to know that I look forward with anticipation to our eventual reunion!
Family and friends are invited to Memorial Services for Aubrey in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 E. Main Street Ventura, Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 7 p.m. Aubrey will be interred at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, in a private ceremony. Please consider a donation to the
