Obituary

Elsie Bennett Long, 92, formerly of Augusta, GA, died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at her home in Pinellas Park, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Central Christian Church with Rev. Stephen Croft officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

She was married to Lenwood Long for 62 years until his death in 2002. Elsie was known for her warmth of heart and generosity of spirit and created strong and enduring friendships. She was a nurse for many years and combined these skills with her creative talent to become the first certified nursing home activity director in the State of Georgia and later became Director of the Child Care Center at Wesleyan College in Macon, finally retiring to Florida in the 1970's.

Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Jackson of Pinellas Park, FL and Rachel Brink of Tampa, FL. She also had a son, Michael Long, who preceded her in death in 2006. Other survivors include daughter-in-law Connie Long of SC and son-in-law Kent (Mick) Brink of FL, brothers Joe Bennett and Edward Bennett, sister Nancy Floyd, sisters-in-law Magda Bennett and Peggy Bennett, and brother-in-law Ervin Floyd. She was also blessed with 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Long, Kris Colquitt, Mark Jackson, Ashley Long, Kent Brink, Johnny Richardson, Tom Richards, and Ervin Floyd.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, January 27, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
