Eileen Sheehan Coyne, 91, of Fairhaven passed away Monday January 23, 2017 surrounded by her daughters. She was the wife of the late John F. Coyne.
Born and raised in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Nora Sheehan, of County Cork Ireland, and the sister of the late Judge John D. Sheehan. A graduate of Holy Family High School and Bridgewater State College, she was a teacher before giving up her career to raise her family. Throughout her life she devoted herself to caring for her beloved family and friends. Her sunny smile , wise counsel and boundless love will be forever missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by her five daughters, Mary Ellen Gordon and her husband David of Littleton, Noreen Kavanaugh and her husband David of Needham, Julia von Wahlde and her husband Matthew of Lincoln, Kathleen Peterson and her husband Peter of Needham, and Anne Jarvis and her husband David of Falmouth; her grandchildren, Sarah Hatton and her husband Garrett, Matthew Gordon, Brian Kavanaugh and his wife Corrine, Michael and Daniel Kavanaugh, Laura and Alyona von Wahlde, John, William and Timothy Peterson, Bridget, Nora and James Jarvis; her great-granddaughter, Eloise Mahoney Kavanaugh, and many dear nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Church Fairhaven. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
