AUSTIN, TX-Norman A. Houle, 81, formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23rd. He leaves six children, Deborah Riva and her husband Dr. Loris Riva of Rome, Italy, Cynthia Brainerd and her husband Robert of Poughkeepsie, NY, Amy Houle and her husband Kevin Dotzler of Encinitas, CA, Thomas Houle and his wife Elaine of Austin, TX, Christopher Houle and his wife Dawn of Poughkeepsie, NY and Stephanie Hawkins and her husband Ben of Brockport, NY; eleven grandchildren, Michael and Erika Houle, Megan, Michelle, Calie and Rachel Brainerd, Elena Riva, Siena, Natalie and CJ Houle and Annika Hawkins; his brother, Paul Houle and his wife Mary Lou of Sutton; sisters, Cecilia Reardon of Ogunquit, ME, Connie Chartier of Carlsbad, CA and Priscilla McLaughlin and her husband John of Sunnyvale, CA and many nieces and nephews.
Norman was born in Worcester a son of Albert and Estelle (Guevin) Houle. He graduated from The College of the Holy Cross. Norman proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1957 until 1960 and attained the rank of First Lieutenant. He worked for 22 years for General Motors and retired as a manager in the Human Resources Department. Norman was a member of Toast Masters International and achieved the designation of chairman while being a member of the southern New York Chapter. He lived his Catholic faith and enjoyed following and discussing politics, spending time with his extensive family and playing with his two dogs Jersey and Fella.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 27th from 4:00 until 7:00pm at CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Church, 35 Hamilton St., Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
