Obituary

CHICOPEE – Dianne Marie Buckel, 50, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her close friends. She was born in Holyoke on February 4, 1966, a beloved daughter of David G. and Lucille T. (Paul) Buckel of Chicopee. She was raised in Chicopee and graduated in 1984 from Holyoke Catholic High School. She furthered her education and received an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Holyoke Community College and also attended Saint John’s Business School in West Springfield. She was a lifelong resident of Chicopee and was employed as an Accounts Payable Clerk for Daniel O’Connell Sons, Inc. in Holyoke. She was a communicant of the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Chicopee. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her beloved parents, she leaves her loving sister, Denise T. Buckel of Chicopee; her dear aunt, Gaetane Paul of Springfield; and her many caring cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Buckel and Paul families. Her family would like to especially thank her “family” from Daniel O’Connell Sons in Holyoke for their caring concern and assistance during her illness. Her family also extends many special thanks to all those who offered Prayers and Masses for Dianne during her long illness. She was predeceased by her cherished godparents, J. Robert and Doris Paul; and her dear uncle, Dr. Richard Paul. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, January 28, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, 566 Front Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning, January 28, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located at the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, c/o 40 Cyman Drive, Chicopee, MA 01013 or to the D’Amour Cancer Center, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
