Obituary

Muriel L. (Makepeace) Vilk, age 80, of Brockton, died peacefully, January 23, 2017, surrounded by her family at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Muriel was the loving wife for 56 years of William W. Vilk. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Marjorie (Pousland) Makepeace. She was a graduate of Brockton High School and until her retirement had been employed at CVS for 25 years. Muriel was a caring, compassionate, loyal and faithful woman. She was a former volunteer at the Cardinal Cushing and New England Sinai Hospitals and the Brockton Council on Aging and was a member of the Pearl Street Methodist Church in Brockton. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and enjoyed baking, crafts and playing games.

She is also survived by her children Marjorie Brooks of Pawtucket, RI, Timothy Vilk of Brockton, Denise Burke of Brockton and Wendy Nightingale and her husband Tom of Berkley; nine grandchildren, Abbey Botelho, Amy Sousa, Tara, John and Emily Vilk, Jeremy and Leah Burke and Vanessa and Victoria Nightingale; three great grandchildren Jacob and Isabella Sousa and Brooke Botelho; several nieces and nephews and several lifelong friends. She was the sister of the late Edward, George, Harold and John Makepeace.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 10am, followed by burial in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
