Vito Faraci 82, of Franklin, died peacefully, with family at his side, Saturday January 21, 2017 at the Franklin Health & Rehabilitation Center, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Joann J. (Surovick) Faraci, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born January 13, 1935 in Alcamo, Sicily, a son of the late Isidore and Maria (Vivona) Faraci, he was raised and educated in Italy and settled in Canada in 1953. Vito was able to come to the United States in 1963, and became a citizen in 1977, moving to Detroit, Michigan and worked for the Chrysler Corporation for over 32 years before retiring. Mr. and Mrs. Faraci were 49-year residents of Roseville, Michigan and recently moved to Franklin to be near family.
He enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with his family. He was a Past Faithful Navigator and Grand Knight of the Fr. Solanus Casey Council #3797 in Roseville, Michigan and was a member of St. Donald’s Church in Roseville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Mary Jo Peterson and her husband James of Franklin, a brother Isidore Faraci and his wife Mary of Ontario, Canada, 2 grandchildren, Ryan & Carly Peterson, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was the brother of the late Pasquale and Stefano Faraci & Eleanor DeStefano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Saturday January 28th at 11AM in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Square, Franklin. His interment will be held privately.
