Obituary

Lohan, Donald Paul, of Franklin, formerly of Roslindale. 59 yrs old, passed away at home on January 22, 2017 after a strong brave battle with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Son of the late Claire and Matthias Lohan of Roslindale & Ballygar, Ireland. Son- in- law of the late Claire and Thomas Whalen of Jamaica Plain and Duxbury, Ma. He was the devoted husband and father to Joanne Whalen Lohan, of Franklin, formerly of Jamaica Plain and John, David and Julia Lohan all of Franklin. Loving brother to Kevin Lohan of Whitman, James and Terry Lohan of Severna Park, Maryland, Joseph Lohan of West Roxbury, Robert Lohan of Roslindale, and Kathleen and Joseph Botaish of Wrentham. Fond brother -in- law, to Thomas Whalen of Dorchester, Marybeth and Clifford Flynn of Milton, Deborah and Andrew Sheehan of Norwood, Dennis Whalen of Boston and Annemarie and Kevin McCann of Norwood . Also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and 11 grand nieces and nephews. He loved you all. Donny was a long time employee of The Teamsters Local 25 at Stop and Shop Companies for 31 yrs, and more recently an employee for the Town of Franklin Facilities Dept. His strong work ethic was unsurpassed. He loved all sports, especially the Boston Bruins, and loved spending his own time at the ice rinks around the city throughout his life.
He especially loved watching his own children in their sports, and spectating at their games, was an all time favorite. Donny was a quiet guy, who acted instead of talked, and lived by example. He had a huge heart, and a giving spirit, & never complained, not even while fighting a life limiting disease. He passes away 27 yrs sober in Alcoholics Anonymous and gives God and the Fellowship credit for his long term sobriety. The solid, beautiful life he was given to live came only after surrendering to the disease of addiction. His message to others :"There's Always Hope. " Many thanks to the members of his group at the St. Jude Noon Day Meeting in Norfolk, for coming to the house regularly this year, when he couldn't attend on his own. You all certainly "carried the message ". He was so grateful. His favorite places in the world were at home with his family and anywhere near the ocean. Many thanks to the doctors & nurses at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, and Brigham & Women's Hospital for their dedicated care & service during his 9 inpatient admissions this past year. Loving thanks to Dr Oreofe Odijide MD, lymphoma oncologist, for her brilliant care, and quiet demeanor, that she shared with Don and his family during his fight. You became his friend. Your concern and personalized attention for your patients never went unnoticed, and we were blessed to of had you as our physician. Loving thanks to Dr. Iqubal Dhaliway. To all the Teamster brothers over the years, he loved you all deeply, like family, and was grateful for his friendship with each of you.
You know that. To all his neighbors past and present on Jack's and Martha's Way for the last 22 years:
“There’s no place like home “. Thank you all for your kindness and generosity this past year, & May God Bless You All.
