Obituary

Raymond D. Desrosiers, age 94, formerly of Taunton and Onset, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2017 at Life Care Center in Raynham with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Kingsbury) Desrosiers for 57 years. Born in Taunton, the son of the late Bruno & Rosalie (Couture) Desrosiers. He attended the former St. Jacques School and Coyle High School. He attended the Rhode Island Schools of Design, Wentworth Institute and UMASS Dartmouth. He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and a lifelong member of the Elks. Raymond served his country in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Intrepid during WWII earning the Navy Commendation for Valor. He also served on the U.S.S. Wedderburn during the Korean War again receiving many medals and citations. Raymond was the owner of Creative Metal Products in Berkley, MA. His success enabled him to build his dream home. His greatest joy, along with Margaret was having all his family and friends at his cape home. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, having traveled to several games with his children and grandchildren. He was a proud member of the Subway Alumni. He is survived by his son Barry Desrosiers and his wife Cathy and his daughter Susan Desrosiers and her husband Don Blackwell all of Taunton. He also leaves his sisters Lea LaCroix, Lillian Perry, Rita Hadley and Helen Marzelli and ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Raymond was the father of the late Margaret “Peggy” Silver and the brother of the late Cecile Roy, Lorraine Galligan, Armond, Ernest, Louis, William, Roland, Laurent and Leo Desrosiers. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. Taunton, Ma 02780 on Thursday, January 26th at 9 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10 am. Burial will be at the Bourne National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942
