John W. Clary, 82

John Wesley Clary, age 82, died on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his daughter's home in Pinehurst NC surrounded by his family. Over the past few months, John had several strokes and his health declined.
John was born in Rogers, Texas to the late John Furman Clary and Lillian Rebecca Locklin Clary on September 16, 1934. He was a graduate of Brazosport High School in Texas and later received an Associate’s degree at Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958 on the Newman K. Perry Destroyer as a Fire Technician and received a Good Conduct medal.
In 1958, he married his wife of 49 years Beverly Edith Lewin. She preceded him in death in 2007. John and Beverly called Mansfield their home. It is where they raised their two children, Shirley and John Paul.
John worked at the Northrop Corporation as a quality inspector for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the UAW. As a younger man, John was active in the Mansfield Jaycees and the Mansfield Conservation Committee. After retiring, he was an active member of the Wrentham Sportsman’s Club. He also enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, traveling and was an avid New England Patriots fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Byron and her husband Jeffrey of Pinehurst, NC, his son, John Paul Clary of Mansfield, MA, and his grandchildren, Shannon, Timothy, Daniel, and Jack.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday January 26th from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Wrentham Sportsman’s Club Memorial Fund.
