Joyce C. Howells, 63

Joyce C. Howells, age 63, of Norton, formerly of Halifax and North Easton, passed away comfortably at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
Born in Scranton, PA on February 23, 1953, she was a loving daughter of the late Willard K. and Mary M. (Jones) Howells. She grew up and was educated in Pennsylvania.
Prior to retiring, Joyce had worked as an Accounts Payable Clerk at Shaw’s Supermarket Corporate Offices in West Bridgewater for nine years. She previously was employed for sixteen years at Marine Optical in South Easton and following retiring had worked part time at Convenience Plus in Norton.
She had made her home in Norton since 2015, and previously resided for 11 years in Halifax and over 20 years in North Easton. Joyce was an active member of the Mansfield Lodge of Elks where she served as a Trustee and Tyler. She enjoyed arts & crafts and crocheting, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted daughter Dannielle M. Murray and her husband Jon Zarrella of South Attleboro. She was the cherished and proud grandmother of Hunter Thomas Murray, Sophia Lynn Zarrella and Chloe Lee Zarrella. She was the dear sister of William Howells, Maripat Simpson, Barbara Chazn, Christine Stegura and Martin Howells all of Pennsylvania, and the late Joanne Bertiz and Linda Howells. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Her funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 25th at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 24th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Joyce’s family would prefer that donations in her memory be made to the Mansfield Lodge of Elks, 140 North Main St., Mansfield, MA 02048.
