Obituary

Age 99, passed away on December 21, 2016 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on November 20, 1917 to the late Merritt & Lorene Goodspeed at their family farm in Clear Lake, Wisconsin. She attended a teacher's college in Wisconsin and taught in a one room school house for a year. She then pursued secretarial work in St. Paul, Minnesota where she worked for St. Paul Insurance Company, Brown & Bigelow and Ecolab. She married Thomas W. Hamper in St. Paul on December 20, 1941. They had five children when her husband passed away at a young age of 45. She devoted her life to her children always showing support, love and strength. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children. She then continued her secretarial profession. Her last job was serving as City Clerk for Sunfish Lake in Minnesota. When she retired, they honored her by dedicating a granite bench in Musser Park with a full ceremony. She is survived by three sons Thomas, Orlando, FL; Douglas, Inver Grove Heights, MN; Alan (Linda), Naples, FL; and two daughters Beth and Priscilla, Indianapolis, IN; two granddaughters Anne and Amy and great granddaughter Annabella. She is survived by her brother, Marshall (Delta) Goodspeed; sister-in-law, Joan Haase; and preceded in death by two sisters, Polly Trimble; Verna Marston; and one brother Neil Goodspeed. Myra lived her life fully and she was always "on the go." She was an avid golfer, bird watcher, bridge player, gardener plus an expert seamstress sewing her own clothing and clothes for others. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at North Presbyterian Church, 2675 E. Hwy 36, North St. Paul, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Private interment Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to North Presbyterian Church.
