Obituary

Ahmed Clifford Hutchinson
October 8, 1985 — January 8, 2017
All we can do is recall the love and fun which we share with Ahmed. Ahmed, and his twin sister
Amina, were born on October 8, 1985 to Clifford George Hutchinson (deceased) and his mother
Maureen Johnson Hutchinson.
Ahmed was a beautiful baby. Comments were continuous about Ahmed’s looks that it gave his
mother pause. She had to request that a nurse bring in the baby girl, Amina; this was to see if she
was not as pretty, since all compliments were directed at the “beautiful boy.” Amina was equally
pretty but for a boy Ahmed was noteworthy. Ahmed prove to be very adventurous; as calm as he
was, he never feared anyone or any situation. Sometimes we were in awe of Ahmed’s boldness.
Ahmed, though pretty, and assertive was calm. He was lovable and never negatively challenged
anyone. His constant reaction to every situation was “leave it alone”. Ahmed loved everyone
and didn’t make waves. We will always cherish our memories of him. At about two years old,
Ahmed’s paternal grandfather watched him playing on the floor and said “you will make yourself a
lot of money as a comedian. How much he was on the mark is uncanny. Ahmed made everyone
laugh. Had we branded and promoted him, this could have been big.
Ahmed lived the normal life of a teenager until just before his 17th birthday. Unfortunately,
Ahmed’s promising life went into arrest, on New Year’s Day, 2001, he was randomly shot on New
Year’s Day morning right outside his own residence. After recovery, he became skittish and began
to become reclusive. He lost interest in being the “dapper” that he had been; you see Ahmed used
to like dressing in the most expensive and matching outfits he could find. He lost interest, but decided
that royal blue was his color so today we celebrate Ahmed with all shades of blues. Ahmed
did a 360 degree and his assertive personality became humble. By August of 2001, Ahmed had an
onset of mental disorder; that was traumatic and distressing for his nuclei and extended family.
Ahmed knew all his family members and family friends. He engaged them wherever he met
them. He was affable and as mentioned earlier quite a comedian. He never disengaged himself
from his family. He remembered everyone’s number and would call them even when he moved to
Tennessee last May. He felt that he was independent enough to move down South. He used his
declaration of independence and moved to Knoxville, TN. Unfortunately, sometime in late December
to early January, Ahmed became ill and was hospitalized in the University of Tennessee Medical
Center where he was called to rest on January 8, 2017.
Merely 31 years old, God opened his arms and welcome Ahmed home. We are all perplexed
and wonder why, but this too is God’s work. He gave us this beautiful soul and determined the
course of his life for the past 15 years; now He has decided to take him home. Our job is to listen
to God; there is a message, if we cannot discern it, then “one day He will make it plain.”
We know with his gentle and loving heart that he can be nowhere else but with the Lord!
Family, and friends let’s celebrate Ahmed’s life. Let’s remember the jokes, the dance moves and
everything about Ahmed!
Ahmed our son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, we let you go today,
but you’ll be in our hearts forever
