Obituary

NEW BEDFORD - Kimball A. Baker, Jr., husband of the late Estelle (Caron) Baker, died January 16, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital.

Born in Newton, MA, he was the son of the late Kimball A. Baker Sr. and the late Alliene (Gane) Baker and lived in Dartmouth over eighty years.

He is survived by two daughters Karen Starvaggi and Debra Shumway, his son Kimball A. Baker III, two stepdaughters Denise Tripp and Donna Szyndlar, two stepsons Paul and Robert Profita, several grand and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the stepfather of the late Michael Profita and brother of the late Richard W. Baker.

Kim attended Clemson College and graduated from N.B. Textile Institute with a degree in textile engineering and retired from Berkshire-Hathaway as Vice-President of Manufacturing after 38 years.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a Past Commander of the Weeks-Plummer Post 307. Kim served as Dartmouth Fire District One for 27 years and chief in 1967 and 1968, was a member of the Abraham H. Howland, Jr. Masonic Lodge and in 1994 was inducted into the Dartmouth High Athletic Hall of Fame.

His private services are with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., N.B. with burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
