Charles A. Johnson, 75, died January 18th at Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of the late Joyce (Scalise) Johnson.
Born in Providence and growing up in Cranston, he was the son of the late Peter and Margaret (Tucker) Johnson. He lived in Providence for over 47 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Charles had been an Investigator with the City of Providence. He was also the proprietor of Johnson Horse and Rider Supply. He was a horse trainer for many years and owned multiple winning race horses. Charles was a Softball Coach with the Mt. Pleasant Little League and coached a 1990 State Championship Team. He was a New York Yankees fan and was an avid sports fan.
Charles had a passion for music in every genre and had played drums, piano, saxophone and more.
He leaves his three daughters, Julie M. Johnson and her companion, Luis Martinez of NY, NY, Jodi A. Duclos and her husband Jason of North Providence and Jacki L. Ortez and her husband Vincent of Warwick He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Vinnie, Victoria, Alexander and Sydney and his great-granddaughter, Lily. He was the brother of the late Peter E. Johnson, Jr.
Visitation will be Monday, January 23rd from 5-7pm with a Prayer Service immediately following in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in the RI Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter at a later date.
