Laconia---Betty D. Robinson, 83, passed peacefully at the Laconia Rehabilitation Center on Friday, January 13, 2017. Betty will be remembered by those closest to her as a fighter. The last several years she endured many health challenges.
Betty was born on November 10, 1933 in Beacon, New York to the late Michael and Helen (Gruendle) Dunay. Betty loved sports and enjoyed playing basketball during high school. Upon graduation, she played softball while working at the Texaco Research Laboratory. Betty was always on the go and loved to shop and travel; she especially loved traveling abroad.
Betty was a resident of Laconia for the past 30 years. She loved the cold weather skiing at Gunstock, as well as her time boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and golfing. Betty followed the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox and she was a true Tom Brady and Big Papi fan. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed watching movies and television, while knitting dishcloths. Betty loved taking the bus to Foxwoods, where she would sit for hours on a penny slot, many times taking home a little extra for her next trip to the casino.
Betty enjoyed her many years as a volunteer at the St.Vincent De Paul Society thrift store. She formed many friendships there and was blessed to have had a group of women with so much care and compassion assisting her while she was home the past year. Betty was also blessed with a group of wonderful friends and neighbors while in New Hampshire. Many will fondly remember Betty’s love for her weekly hair appointment.
Betty is survived by her daughter Karen (Ippolito) Moctezuma; her granddaughter Rachele (Moctezuma) Higgenbottom, her great-grandson Aamari Higgenbottom, and two nieces and a nephew. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Dunay, and her son Michael Ippolito.
There will be no calling hours per Betty's wishes.
