Obituary

John Dalton Holmes Sr. passed away on December 13, 2016 at 81 from Parkinson’s disease in the presence of his loving family while in Hospice Care in Zephyrhills, FL. He was born in 1935 and was the son of the late Arthur L. Holmes and the late Ruth M. (Michiner). He was the beloved husband for 58 years to Patricia (Capobianco) Holmes. In addition to his wife, he leaves three children: son John Holmes Jr. and his companion Marion Tighe of Nashua, NH, daughter Teri Fossa and her husband Richard of Wakefield, RI, daughter Toni Paquette and her husband Stephen of Windham, NH. Brother of Ruth Colby and her husband Jack of Melrose, MA, and the late Arthur Holmes. John was also the proud grandfather of three grandchildren whom he loved and adored: Samantha and Cory Holmes, and Abrial Paquette.

John was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, a member of the Massachusetts National Guard from 1953 to 1962, and was a member of the Teamster’s Local 42 for 20 years.

In addition to spending time with his family, John enjoyed playing golf and bowling, watching football and old Western movies, and fixing things—especially cars. John also enjoyed going to the Knickerbocker Club in Lowell, MA on Saturday nights.

A memorial mass will celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, January 20th, at Saint Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
