Joseph L. Miksch, 80, of East Bridgewater, MA died peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born May 14, 1936, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Raymond and Marion (Heesen) Miksch. He joined the Navy Reserves upon graduating High School then served Active Airforce from 1955-59 before joining the Army National Guard in 1960 until he retired.
He married his wife Dorothy (Folan) on January 17, 1959 and is survived by four children, Joseph Miksch, Jr. and his wife Sharon, Dianne Heger and her husband Gregg, Deborah Ross and her husband James, Michael Miksch and his wife Linda. Also survived by his sister Katherine Schlau of Michigan. He was the proud grandfather to Joshua Miksch, Jennifer Monaghan, Janice Miksch, Myles, and Jessy Heger, Andrew, Evan, and Caroline Ross, Cooper Miksch, and five great grandchildren.
Joe was an active member of his community serving on the Town of East Bridgewater Council on Aging, Housing Authority, and Board of Selectmen. He was also a past President of the East Bridgewater Commercial Club, and a member of the Bridgewater Vets club. He loved to sing, dance, and travel. He was an avid football fan. He could often be seen supporting his two favorite teams, wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers jacket accompanied by a New England Patriots hat and shirt.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Thursday, January 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. All other services are omitted and burial will be private.
