Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Robert R. “Reggie” Trudell, 80, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 14, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on May 8, 1936, a beloved son of the late Joseph A. C. Trudell and Emilia M. (Benoit) Trudell. He was raised and attended schools in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Specialist Third Class. He received the Army of Occupation of Germany Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed for 26 years as a Firefighter for the City of Springfield and retired on February 23, 1995. He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Pauline M. (Lafleur) Trudell who was Called Home on September 13, 2007. They were married on July 4, 1959 at the former Saint Mary Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. He leaves his three loving children, Annette L. Trudell and Renee R. Trudell, both of Springfield and Rene R. Trudell of West Springfield; his two cherished granddaughters, Natalie Marie Trudell and Lexi Marie Trudell; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Trudell and Lafleur families. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his two dear sisters, Lorraine Forget and Yvette Labonte. His funeral will be held on Monday morning, January 23, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 9 a.m. His Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Prayer Service at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, January 22, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. For those who prefer, his family asks that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, (Please specify Springfield), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
