Ernest A. Casassa of Medford died on Sunday, January 15 at the age of 95. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary A. (Garbarino) Casassa. Ernest proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After returning to Medford, he was employed as a postal worker.
Ernest was the beloved husband of the late Ellen (Abbott) Casassa of Australia, and devoted father of Rhonda Geary of Billerica, Donna McGovern, Elaine Veino, both of Medford, Denise Slowe, Monica Fazio, both of Burlington, Laurel Breen, Karen Breen, Gene Casassa, all of Medford, and the late Vincent Casassa. He is survived by 13 loving grandchildren and 2 loving great grandchildren. Ernest was the brother of the late Mabel Dondero, Florence Brahm, Dorothy Deal, Alice Dalyrmple, Helen Bassett, and Edmund Casassa.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, on Thursday, January 19, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, from 9 through 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
