Laurie Ansaldi, age 55, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston after a long illness. Raised in Medford, she was a graduate of Medford High School with the class of 1979. Laurie was a fun and vivacious woman who enjoyed trips with family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed many cruises together and she loved taking trips to Foxwoods and Twin Rivers with family and friends. She worked for many years as a grant writer and compliance supervisor with the Federal Department of Transportation where she oversaw grants for ADA compliance initiatives. A great cook and great wife to her husband Gregory who she was married to in 2005. Laurie also was devoted to her four nephews for whom she was like a second mother.
The beloved wife of Gregory F. Atkinson, she is also lovingly survived by her loyal companion and service dog, Rocco. She was the cherished daughter of Anthony and Adeline (Santoro) Ansaldi of Medford and a devoted sister to Paula Cicoria and her husband Frank of Medford, Anthony Ansaldi, Jr. and his fiancée Nancy Wetzonis of Malden. She was a loving aunt to A.J. Ansaldi of Malden, Joseph Cicoria of Medford, Christopher and Nicholas Ansaldi, both of Malden, and is also survived by many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, January 18th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 - 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
