James S. Nowell, age 49, of Woburn passed away August 24th following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Paula A. (Domenici). Born in Winchester he was the son of the late Gertrude M. (Casey) and Alfred J. Nowell.
Mr. Nowell was a life long Woburn resident and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era from 1976 to 1980. He worked for the past seven years as a shipper and reciever for the United Stationers Co. of Woburn. Mr. Nowell enjoyed hanging around his pool, cooking on the grill and being surrounded by family and friends. He was also an avid sports fan who loved following the Patriots and Bruins. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Leukemia Society of America, MA Chapter, 495 Old Connecticut Path, Suite 220, Framingham, MA 01701 or to the charity of your choice.
In addition to his parents, James is predeceased by his brothers John and David Nowell. He is survived by his beloved wife Paula and their loving son, Stephen James Nowell of Woburn. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Alfred J. Jr. and his wife Susan of No. Andover, Mary Ellen Monis and her husband Steven of Brookline, Barbara Verdolino and her husband James of Wilmington, Elizabeth Nowell of Stoneham, Mark and his wife Sandra of Billerica, Kevin and his wife Mary Beth of Woburn, and Louise Nowell of Watertown. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Kathy Nowell of Woburn and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Monday at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
