Obituary

Cynthia A. (Mason) Sprague, a 43 year resident of Charlestown and formerly of Dorchester, entered into eternal life on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Glen Ridge Nursing Home in Medford following an extended illness. She was 75 years old.

Cynthia was born in Boston on May 17, 1941, a daughter of the late Roy Mason and Muriel (Davis) Mason. She grew up in Dorchester where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School .Cynthia worked as a Nurse Assistant for many years at the Little Sisters of The Poor Nursing Home in Somerville before she worked as a Nurse Assistant at Tufts Medical Center in Boston for 4 years. She enjoyed reading before her eyesight failed and highly enjoyed whenever anyone would read to her. Cynthia was known around the neighborhood as the person who showed what a real family was like because she was a mother to many ! She was always there to help anyone in their time of need. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hyde Park American Legion Post # 78.

Cynthia is the beloved wife of the late Gerald E. Sprague. She is the devoted mother of Terry Meena and her husband Joseph, Jefferey Sprague and his fiancé Brenda Banker, Kelley Kenyon and her husband Michael, Stephanie "Rosie" Sprague and the late Dawn Marie Sprague. She is the loving Grandmother to Jonathan, Dawn-Marie, Jennifer, Gregory, Michael, Jessica, the late P.J. and her great-grandchildren Madison, Shaun, Cillian and Lucas. She is the beloved sister of David Mason, Paul Mason, Billy Mason, Linda Oliver, Barbara Gilmore and Susan Iarrobino. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Cynthia's Funeral Service on Thursday morning, January 19, 2017 at 10 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ayer. Her visiting hours will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
