CHICOPEE – Souheila (Elia) Abdallah, 90, of Chicopee and a former resident of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 14, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Hadchit, Lebanon on December 27, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Naeef and Leila (Hadla) Elia. She immigrated to Springfield in 1986 and resided there until moving to Chicopee in 2002. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield where she was a member of the Saint Anthony Women’s Guild. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving son, Joseph Abdallah; her loving son-in-law, Simon Elias; her cherished grandson, Elias Raymond Abdallah; and her three loving siblings. She leaves her loving children, Tony Abdallah and his wife, Therese, Wadiha Elias, Raymond Abdallah and his wife, Zahia, and Aurora Sassine and her husband, George; her loving sister, Sadie Elia; her twelve cherished grandchildren; and her five cherished great-grandchildren. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning, January 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118.
