Obituary

Reynolds, Raymond J. a lifelong Wellesley, MA resident, passed away on January 12, 2017 after a brave battle with cancer. Born July 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Ernest and Marion (Doyle) Reynolds. Ray was predeceased by his brother Ernest L Reynolds, sister June (Reynolds) Kapinos and is survived by one sister, Roberta (Reynolds) Dellorfon, all of Wellesley. Ray attended Wellesley public schools, graduating from Wellesley High School in 1950. Upon graduation, Ray joined the service and spent 4 years in the Air Force, after which he became an electrician and President of Reynolds Electric in Wellesley, a company started in 1938 by his late father Ernest Reynolds.

He was actively involved in the community, coaching Little League baseball and as a member of many organizations (Rotary International, Wellesley Club, Italo-American Club and Jaycees). Ray was often behind a grill, whether flipping pancakes at the annual pancake festival or grilling hot dogs at the summer concerts, always with a grand smile and loud, robust laugh.

Ray was the beloved husband of Mary (Baldwin) Reynolds for 62 years. He was the devoted father of Stephen H. Reynolds and his wife Debra, Mark B. Reynolds and his wife Joanne, all of Natick, MA, Kathryn A. (Reynolds) Maloney and her husband Michael of Waynesboro, PA, and Patricia G. (Reynolds) Ferrotti and her husband Michael of Frankfort, IL. He was a loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren; Jessica (Reynolds) McDowall, Michael, Brian, Kellee, David and Scott Reynolds, Nicholas and Matthew Ferrotti, Meghan and Kevin Maloney, and 2 great grandchildren; Evan and Ryan McDowall.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street (Route 16), Wellesley, MA on Monday, Jan. 16 from 4-8pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Road Wellesley on Tuesday at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Needham, MA. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Stanley R.Tippett Hospice Home, 920 South Street, Needham, MA 02492 or American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
