CHICOPEE – Roger J. Fecteau, 84, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 12, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Coaticook, Province of Quebec, Canada on May 22, 1932, a beloved son of the late Lionel and Liliane (Frechette) Fecteau. He was raised and attended schools in Coaticook and following his marriage, Roger and his wife, Huguette, moved to South Hadley in 1959 where they lived until moving to Chicopee in 1963. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy where he traveled the world and also had the honor of attending the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth. He was employed for many years at New England Container Company in Chicopee and later worked at the former Ampad Company in Holyoke. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Elder Council 69, both in Chicopee. Roger was a quiet man who loved his family and enjoyed tinkering around his home. He was always working on a new project and, as a jack of all trades, especially enjoyed gardening and yard work. He loved decorating his home in Aldenville with beautiful Christmas decorations and was often told he had the best decorated home on his street. He also enjoyed stopping at tag sales and always found many wonderful toys for his children and grandchildren. Always known as a practical joker, his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Huguette A. (Ouimette) Fecteau. They were married on October 16, 1958 in a small chapel in Dixville, Province of Quebec, Canada and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Monique S. Morin and her husband, Gerry, of Ludlow, Patrick R. Fecteau and his wife, Corinne, of Chicopee and Michael J. Fecteau and his wife, Denise, of Chester; his six cherished grandchildren, Erica Donnelly and her husband, Tyler, Jeffrey Morin and his fiancée, Tara Leite, Joseph Dulong and his wife, Jeanne, Melanie Fecteau and her partner, Julio Melendez, Brian Fecteau and Nicole Fecteau and her partner, Brandon Mitchell; his six cherished great-grandchildren, Natalie, Annie, Aubrey, Elijah, Emma and Bentley; his eight dear brothers and sisters, Denis Fecteau and his wife, Louisette, Guy Fecteau and his wife, Louise, Lise Fecteau, Jacques Fecteau, Robert Fecteau and Chantale Fecteau, all of Canada, Sr. Mariette Fecteau of Arkansas and Jacinthe Querion and her husband, Bruno, of Canada; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Fecteau and Ouimette families.
