Leo J. Antoncecchi, Jr. of Westerly, RI, died Sunday, January 8th, at the Westerly Hospital. Born in Malden, he was the son of the late Leo J. and Edith R. (Orfei) Antoncecchi.
Leo served in the Army, and is a Vietnam veteran. During his enlistment Leo was stationed in Manheim, Germany where he was attached to the 535 Engineers. Leo would later become a Massachusetts Metropolitan Police Officer who was recognized and decorated for a lifesaving act. Before his retirement from the force Leo specialized in underwater recovery, tactical riot procedures and was a part of the bomb squad unit.
Leo was the beloved husband of Debra (Sadow) Antoncecchi, and the devoted father of Kim DeCaro of Tewksbury, Leo H. Antoncecchi of Roseville, California, and Alex J. Antoncecchi of Miami, Florida. He was the loving grandfather of Paul, Jade, Frank and Kiara. Leo was also a caring great-grandfather of Jiada, Austin, Jason and the late Jordan. Leo was the brother of Robert Antoncecchi and leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday January 16th at 4 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 2 – 4 PM. Burial with military honors will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Tuesday, January 17th at 12:30.
