WAYLAND: Janet (Bruyette) Fitzgerald, 85, died peacefully and comfortably at her Wayland residence surrounded by her loving children on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.
Janet was born on February 11, 1931 the daughter of the late Leo T. Bruyette and Rhea (Foisey) Bruyette.
Janet was the beloved wife for 50 years of the late Hubert B. Fitzgerald who died on November 20, 2003.
She was the devoted mother of Timothy B. Fitzgerald and his wife Karen of Natick; Michael J. Fitzgerald and his wife Louise of Nashua, NH; Daniel J. Fitzgerald and his wife Shauna of Lancaster and Donna M. Fitzgerald of Scarborough, ME. Cherished grandmother of Sean Fitzgerald and his wife Becky; Kelly Fitzgerald; Bethany Fitzgerald; Andrea Fitzgerald; Melissa Fitzgerald; Caroline Fitzgerald; Daniel Fitzgerald and Leo Fitzgerald. Sister-in-law of Kathleen Bruyette of Simsbury, CT. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was the sister of the late Leo Bruyette and Gene Bruyette and sister-in-law of the late Elizabeth Bruyette.
Janet has been a resident of Wayland for over 61 years and spent her youth in Simsbury, CT. She received her Associates Degree as a medical assistant from Westbrook Junior College in Maine and for several years before her marriage to Hubert worked for a physician as a medical assistant.
She loved to golf and was a member of the Woodland Golf Club in Newton and the Errol Estates in Apopka, FL. She was an accomplished bowler and was a member of several leagues at Fairway Bowling in Natick for many years. She was a volunteer with Parmenter Health Care in Wayland and a supporter and volunteer for the Wayland Boosters Association.
She loved to spend summers at Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Maine with her family and her winter months with her friends in Apopka, FL.
Janet was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her family and they knew that they were the center of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew Janet especially her large circle of friends.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at ST. ANN’S CHURCH, 124 Cochituate Road (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Fitzgerald family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
