Claudette L. James, 73, passed away on Tuesday January 10, 2017 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital after a period of declining health. She was born in Berlin on January 14, 1943 the daughter of Godias and Yvette (Gauthier) Fortin. She resided most her life in the Berlin area, but for a time she also lived in Indiana and Georgia. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She was employed as a telephone operator in her early years.
Members of her family include her sons Steve Dahms and companion Lisa Lastowka Doyle of Manchester, Brian Dahms of Berlin and a daughter Nicole (Dahms) Hawkins of Gorham. Grandchildren Eric Roy and wife Amanda of Gorham, Yvette Roy of Gorham, Abby Dahms of Drumore, Penn., Remy Dahms of Manchester, NH. Great grandchildren Gavin, Haven, Kendall, Kailee and Erik; brother, Richard Fortin of Berlin; sisters, Anita Dupont of Brookville, FL and Priscilla Fortin of Berlin, sister in-law Nancy Fortin of Leominster, MA; nephews, Derrick Fortin of Berlin, Dan Fortin of MA and Mark Mortin of MA; nieces, Donna Dupont of Berlin, Raeann Dupont of St. Petersburg, FL, Michelle Beauvais of MA and Kim Valliere of MA. The list of people close to her is too numerous to list all but there are many. She was predeceased by her brother Ronald Fortin.
