NATICK: Lisa M. (Goldblatt) Weinman, age 52, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland after an 18 year battle against breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of Gary Weinman sharing 23 wonderful years together.
Born, raised and educated in Natick, Lisa was the daughter of the late Ira and Claire (Brick) Goldblatt. After graduating from Natick High School in 1982 she attended UMass Amherst and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Disorders Sciences in 1987.
Lisa was a 20 plus year employee of the Longfellow Sports Club in Natick. Over the years she helped take care of thousands of our community’s children in the nursery and the kid’s club. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Ben Hem library as her story reading was better than most professionals could do. Many people still believe she should have been hired as the official school librarian. Lisa was also an active volunteer for Pack 40 and Troop 1775 as well as an occasional volunteer for the Natick Soccer Club. She would often be seen walking the streets of Natick with her signature black backpack and pink Red Sox hat for even though she never had a fitbit she was one of the original “walkers”.
In addition to her husband Gary, Lisa is survived by her son Harry Weinman of Natick, brother Gary Goldblatt and his wife Tram Vo of Ayer, Aunt Sandra Pinto Schlosberg of Framingham, Cousin Sondra Brick of Canton, father-in-law Arthur Weinman of Florida, and sister-in-law Amy Kobelin of Florida. Lisa was predeceased by her mother-in-law Martha (Pinto) Weinman.
The Funeral Service for Lisa will be in the Chapel of the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, January 15. Relatives and friends will be received beginning at 9:00 A.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Framingham/Natick Jewish Cemetery, Fairview Avenue, Natick.
Shiva will be held at the home of Gary and Lisa, 10 Russell Circle, Natick on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M., and will continue on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M., and on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M.
