Obituary

MEDWAY: Robert L. “Bob” Johnson, 81, died on Sunday, January 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital following a period of declining health.
He was born in Waltham on July 31, 1935 the son of the late Hans S. Johnson and Mary E. (Krom) Johnson.
Bob was the beloved husband for 51 years of the late Maralynn L. (Mayer) Johnson who died on August 22, 2015.
He was the devoted father of Eric Lawrence Johnson of Clinton and Kristen Marie McHugh and her husband Bill McHugh of Medway. Cherished grandfather of Jessica and Jaime Johnson; Kaitlyn, William, Timothy and John McHugh and Ashley and Courtney Johnson. He was the father of the late Steven A. Johnson who died on July 16, 2006. He was the brother of the late Nancy Moran and is the brother-in-law of Richard “Dick” Moran of Wellesley. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Bob spent his formative years in Waltham and had resided in Newton for many years and summered in Bridgton, ME. He attended Northeastern University and retired after many years of dedicated service as an Electrical Test Engineer for Teledyne-Philbrick in Dedham. Bob served his country proudly with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Bob enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets over the years and also loved to watch movies. He and Maralynn loved to spend time in Bridgton with their children and grandchildren where many happy family memories were created. He would spend time along with Maralynn in her garden in Maine and took great pride in the corn he grew there. He felt great contentment in the time spent in Bridgton and enjoyed the peace and quietness of the surrounding area, the stillness of the lake and the grandeur of the pine trees.
At his request all funeral services will be private for his family at Mount Auburn Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his beloved Maralynn and son Steven.
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family would suggest to pay it forward with a random act of kindness in his memory.
