Methuen – Ferdinand “Fred” Robichaud, 84 of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Lawrence General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Coelho) Robichaud, to whom he was married for 55 years.
Born in Methuen on December 24, 1932, Fred was the son of Alex and Lydia (Mallet) Robichaud. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a security guard for various companies until his retirement.
Fred was a communicant at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen, where he served as a lecturer for many years. Because of his military background, he was fascinated with planes, tanks, and various types of firearms. He was also an artist and enjoyed drawing.
Fred will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley, of Methuen; his 4 children, Diane Desell and her husband, John, of Amesbury, Shirley Foster and her husband, Stephen, of Sanford, ME, Raymond Robichaud and his partner, Nycole, of Salem, NH, and Lisa Long and her husband, John, of Dover, NH; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and his brother, Joseph Robichaud and his wife, Joan, of Orlando, FL.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Fred’s life by gathering for calling hours on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. His funeral service will take place on Saturday at 12 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family
