Chapin, Jr. and his wife Margie of North Carolina and Mariann Munroe and her husband James F. of Peabody. Brother of the late Melvin, Fern, Irene, Helen and Eleanor. Cherished grandfather of Ashley Chapin, twins Taylor and Kristin Chapin all of North Carolina and James R. Munroe of Peabody. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea on Saturday, January 14th at 11 AM. Visitation with the family prior to the service beginning at 9:30 AM. Committal Services will be private.
A longtime Chelsea resident prior to moving to Peabody, Richard, at 83 years of age, passed away unexpectedly Sunday at the North Shore Medical Center-Salem Hospital. A decorated Marine Corp veteran during the Korean Conflict, in addition to receiving the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Korean PUC and National Service Defense Medal, he was awarded the Purple Heart on 2 occations for service connected injuries. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machinist at General Electric for over 35 years. Locally, he was involved with the Chelsea Little League for over 20 years, becoming the leagues President and was also the District 10 Administrator for Litle League. In his leisure time he enjoyed his Sunday Night bowling league in Lynnfield, golf and was a former member of the Chelsea Moose.
