Mr. Norman W. Lecuyer, Sr., of Taunton, died Monday, January 9 in Taunton Nursing Home following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice M. (Berard) Lecuyer. He was born 99 years ago in Fall River, the son of the late William G. and Eveline (Belanger) Lecuyer, Sr. He was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, Norman had been employed as a Senior Vocational Instructor and the former Paul A. Dever State School for 27 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the Fifth Battalion Field Artillery School. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, where he served as Treasurer. Norman enjoyed baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox, and playing cards. He was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Parish in Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 1 son: Norman W. Lecuyer, Jr. and his wife, Carol of North Dighton; 1 daughter: Marie A. Landry and her husband, Donald of Bourne; 1 brother: Roland Lecuyer of Raynham; 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late William G. Lecuyer, Jr., Eugene Lecuyer, and Evelyn Rezendes.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral home, 467 Bay Street on Friday, January 13 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Visiting Hour will be held prior to the funeral Friday, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M.
